Organising your home study area

Be sure to designate a specific area in your home to working on your new home learning course. It might be a particularly quiet area, somewhere cosy or just where your desk happens to be placed already. Once you’ve decided on a suitable location, kit it out with a comfortable (but not too comfortable) chair, desk, your computer or laptop, printer and scanner plus any stationary needed. Make sure there is plenty of storage space available for paperwork (it will soon fill up!), and consider adding a pinboard/whiteboard above your desk where you can arrange your schedule, place reminders and any other important home learning correspondence or notes.

Stick with this location whenever you are working on your home study course, no exceptions – the routine will fix an association between this spot and your studies, so your mind will be more likely to slip into study mode more easily when working there.
