Minimising the impact of home learning on family life

Your family may find it just as difficult as you to adjust into your new home studying routine. You’ll probably have to make quite a few sacrifices in terms of time, activities and maybe money, so be sure to let them know why you are spending loads of time pouring over books and sat at your computer. Let them know it’s for your improvement in terms of a better salary, career prospects and ultimately a better life for them. Include them in your reward structure (as mentioned earlier), and the stresses of learning from home should hopefully be kept to a minimum.

If you have older children who have homework to do, then try giving them the opportunity to work with you on their own coursework. Younger children could be set fun projects to do to keep them occupied whilst you focus on your home study coursework.
